You will need a computer and software that meets the technical requirements outlined in Technical Requirements, plus digital copies of the photograph(s) from which you wish to copy a face or faces. These digital copies must be accessible from the computer you plan to use for building an ImagiTale. Refer to How to Build an ImagiTale in the menu at left.
Yes, so long as you create a digital copy of the photo using a scanner, or obtain a digital copy at your local photo developing center. A digital copy located on your home computer is necessary to build an ImagiTale.
We support almost all image file types: .jpg, .jpeg, and .png
Creating a new account is easy to do - just your email address and a password are required. Access the New Account link in the upper right-hand corner of the "Select Titles" page - that's the page you come to when you click on "Build a Book" from the main page. Fill out the required information and click "Submit Securely".
An account confirmation email is then sent to the email address you provided. You must then open that email message and click on the confirmation link. (This is done to ensure that the email address belongs to the user who provided it.) You will receive a message that your account is confirmed and ready for use. Return to ImagiTales Home page and click on "Login" on the top blue menu bar and start your ImagiTales experience.
If you do not receive a confirmation email immediately, please first check to make sure that there were no typos in the email address you provided. As a next step, check to see if spam blocking software could have prevented the delivery of this email message. If you are still unable to locate the confirmation email, please email us at (omit the spaces):

and we will gladly resend the confirmation email to the address you provided.
You have most likely selected a photo where the child's body is not facing squarely with the camera or you have not selected the center point of the brow or chin correctly. Please review our Advanced Clipping Tips, or select another photograph.
The picture resolution of your source photograph may not be high enough. If using a digital camera, make sure your picture quality setting is at its highest prior to photographing your subject. If using a scanner, make sure you are scanning your source photo at 300 dpi.
No. Because the file size of each picture you upload for clipping a face will be large, we do not recommend using a low-speed internet connection to build an ImagiTale. Instead, use a computer that is connected to the Internet via a broadband connection, such as cable modem or DSL.
Please allow 1-2 weeks to receive your order. If you have not received your order in that timeframe, please contact (omit the spaces):

However, the e-book which comes with your paper-bound purchase is created and ready for download within minutes.
An ImagiTale must be added to your cart in order to be saved. You may leave an ImagiTale in your cart up to one week prior to purchasing. After one week, an un-purchased ImagiTale in your cart will be deleted.
Yes. All faces you create are stored in your Face Library, regardless of whether or not you purchase an ImagiTale.
Yes. Once you have purchased an ImagiTale, an e-book copy is placed in your personal online library on the ImagiTales site. You may return to your library later to view the book online, download it for printing, or to purchase additional paper-bound copies.
Upon successful purchase of an e-book, a high-resolution digital image file of your book is created in PDF format, the industry standard for printing. Because it takes some time to produce this file, you are instructed that an email will be sent to you after this file is generated, notifying you that your e-book has been placed in your personal library, located in the My Library section of the web site. This typically takes approximately 5-15 minutes from the time your purchase transaction completes.
Upon visiting your personal library, you will see your newly purchased e-book listed to the left. You then have the option to view the book online, download a high resolution format for printing (the PDF), or to add it back to your shopping cart should you wish to purchase a paper-bound format.
In order to view a PDF file you have downloaded, you will need Acrobat Reader from Adobe. It's free and comes already loaded on many computers. Download it here.
We have a special Share Book feature! If a friend already has an ImagiTales account, you may share your book by going to the My Library tab, selecting the book you want to share, then clicking the "Share This Book" button. You then simply enter the friend's email address associated with her ImagiTales account. After you have shared the book, your friend will be able to access the book in her "My Library". The shared book may be viewed on-line, downloaded for printing, or a paperback format may be ordered.
We have a special Share Face feature! If your friend already has an ImagiTales account, you may share a face in your "Faces Library" selecting the face you want to share, clicking the "Share Face" button and then enter the email address of your friend's ImagiTales account. After you have shared the face, your friend simply logs into her ImagiTales account and will see it in her "Faces Library". Your friend has her own copy of the face, so you are free to delete the face you just shared if desired.
Yes! We are developing a series for children ages five to eight, focusing on friendship and discovery. Stay tuned!
Yes. All transmission of personal data (pictures, names, books, account and shipping information) is encrypted via SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), the industry standard.

Java is required for the process of clipping a face, a key step in the book creation process. All other site functions use the Flash plug-in.
The iMac version of Firefox has had compatibility issues with Java versions 1.4.x and above. We recommend Safari on iMacs as Safari can use the Java plug-in that comes pre-installed on iMacs.
